The 17-year-old has added another title to his rapidly growing collection after winning the US Open quad wheelchair doubles final alongside Sam Schröder, with the No.2 seeds overcoming top seeds Guy Sasson and Niels Vink in a dramatic 76-minute battle that went the distance, prevailing 6-3, 2-6 [10-7].

A maiden major, third time lucky

While this marked Woodman's first US Open final, the teenager is no stranger to the pointy end of a major tournament. He and Schröder had finished runners-up to Sasson and Vink at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon earlier this season, so New York offered a third crack at the same opponents — and this time, the pair were able to avenge their prior defeats and come away triumphant.

A rapid rise

Woodman's progress through the season has been swift. In singles, he claimed his first integrated tournament title at Eastbourne earlier this year and followed it up with a breakthrough win over nine-time major champion Niels Vink at Roehampton.
